A Lancaster County couple’s dreams came true when they won $1 million playing Powerball® for the July 3, 2024, drawing.
Lew W. and Beverly W.’s winning ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 2-26-33-55-57, but not the red Powerball® 22, winning the $1 million prize.
Lew shared that he purchased their winning ticket at Royal Farms in Delta. “I drive a truck for a living and stop by Royal Farms once a week,” he said. “I either purchase one ticket for Powerball® or one for Mega Millions®.”
He said he was in disbelief when he learned they had won. “I’m tickled by the way I discovered it. I place the tickets in a pile in the cubbyhole at home and go through them when I have time. Sometimes, I don’t check them for months.”
It wasn’t until the week after Thanksgiving that Lew finally decided to sort through the pile of tickets – and to his surprise, he discovered one had hit the $1 million prize.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I never expected to win. I just play for fun, but you have to play to win!”
Lew and Beverly said they plan to pay off their mortgage and take a Viking® Danube River Cruise in Europe.
Congratulations, Lew, and Beverly, and thank you for playing!
